Visa Exemption
Purpose
Easy access to Thailand for tourists from qualifying countries.
Employment is stricly prohibited.
Requirements
- Paspport valid for 6 months
- Proof of Accommodation in Thailand
- Valid return ticket or onward ticket within the period of granted stay
- 10,000 THB (20,000 THB for family) or equivalent in cash at arrival
Availability
At arrival in Thailand.
Unlimited when arriving by air.
Limited to two times within same calendar year by land borders (entries by air might be included in the calculation).
Visa On Arrival
Purpose

Tourist Visa
Target Audience
Tourists wishing to visit Thailand for leisure from 60 days up to 6 months.
Work prohibited.
Purpose
Tourism.
Employment is stricly prohibited.
Duration
The tourist visa always gives the right to stay 60 days in one row. You will need to leave Thailand after 60 days and re-enter - if not getting an extension at Immigration.
The tourist visa exists in two editions:
- Single Entry Tourist Visa (TR) with the validity of 60 days and the permission to stay in 60 days.
- Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METR) with the validity of 6 months with the permission to stay 60 days for each entry.
The tourist visa might be extended by one 30-Day Tourist Extension per visa or per entry (depending on the Immigration Office).
Requirements
- Paspport valid for 6 months from date of issue of visa
- Proof of Accommodation in Thailand
- For Single Entry visa: A valid return ticket or onward ticket within the period of granted stay
- For Single Entry visa: 20,000 THB (40,000 THB for family) in cash at arrival. (Some Thai Embassies will ask to see the same kind of money when applying for the visa).
- For Multiple Entry visa: Proof of 200,000 THB on account
Availability
Embassies and Consulates abroad. Tourist visa is not available at the Immigration inside Thailand.
For Multiple Entry Tourist Visa most Embassies will only issue this visa to permanent residents of the country where the visa is being applied for.
Non-Immigrant O Visa for visit to Family
Target Audience
- Marriage - Foreigner married to Thai national
- Guardian - Foreigner taking care of minor Thai national (typically being parent of half farang child)
- Former Thai - Thai previously having Thai passport
- Half Thai - Half Thai and Half Foreigner without Thai passport but a foreign passport only
Purpose
Visiting and staying with family.
Duration
The Non Immigrant O visa is issued for the purpose of visiting and staing with family in two editions:
- 90-Day Single Entry
- 1-Year Multiple Entry (must leave and re-enter every 90 days of stay
Requirements

- For 1-Year Visa: - 40,000 THB per month or deposit of 400,000 THB

Foreign Guardian:

Target Audience

Purpose
Granting the stay permit for people doing business in Thailand.
Duration
- 90-Day Single Entry Non-B
- 1 year Multiple Entry Non-B (re-entering every 90 day)
Requirements
Either of:
- Work permit and a contract for a job with an appropriate salary of 50,000 THB (with exceptions) and a solid reason why the job takes a foreigner. A 90-Day Visa might be granted without the work permit in place already.
- Invitation from a Thai Company for visiting as consultant representing a foreign company
- Proof of representing a foreign company looking into Thailand to seek customers, suppliers or other business partners
- Proof of being ready, able and willing to invest in Thailand

Non-Immigrant ED Visa - Education
Target Audience

The Non Immigrant ED Visa exists in two editions:
- 90-Day Single Entry Visa
- 1-Year Multiple Entry Visa (each continuous stay of no more than 90 days).

The Non-O exists in two editions:

- Multiple Entry - valid for 1 years (but have to leave Thailand every 90 day)
Requirements
- Invitation from registered NGO in Thailand
- Proof of Accommodation (if not part of the invitation letter)

Non-Immigrant OA Visa - Retirement
Target Audience
Pensioners 50+ years old.
Employment strictly prohibited.
Purpose
Granting stay permit for pensioners wishing to stay Thailand on a long-stay visa.
Duration
- 90 days or 1 year on Non-O. Have to leave Thailand every 90 days.
- 1-2 year on Non-OA. Have to leave Thailand once a year.
- 10 years on Non-OX. Visa to be reinstalled after 5 year.
Requirements
- Being 50 years old or older.

Non-Immigrant R Visa - Religious
Target Audience
Professional Religious Practitioners representing a recognized religion - Buddhism in particular.

Granting stay permit for professional religious practitioners.

Transit Visa
Target Audience
There are two groups being targeted with this type of visa:
- Aircraft and vessel crew and craftmen

Official and legal dependants of another visa holder. Typically wife, minor children, etc.

Granting the stay permit to dependants of other visa holders for Thailand.

Marriage certificate, Birth Certificate, etc. proving the relation and dependancy of the other visa holder.
